WALKER, Mich. - Michigan’s newest film production studio is opening for business near Grand Rapids.
Hangar42 Studios on Thursday announced the opening of its facility on the site of a former Lear plant in Walker.
The studio says in a news release that it expects to create 50 to 60 administrative positions and hundreds of other jobs in its first three years of operation.
Hangar42 Studios is owned by a group of local investors who have invested $45 million to buy and renovate the facility into production-ready studios, office space and post-production suites.
The government built the plant in 1942 as a military airplane and boat manufacturing facility. It later was a General Motors and Lear plant.
