Virginia workshop trains workers for film industry


RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A weekend workshop on production assistant training in the film industry is being held in Virginia.

The workshop was held Saturday and continues Sunday at Reynolds Community College in Richmond. More than 50 people were registered.

The course was taught by Gary Romolo Fiorelli. He’s worked on projects including the FX television drama “Sons of Anarchy” and films like “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Blades of Glory.”

The Community College Workforce Alliance offered the workshop in partnership with the Virginia Film Office and the Virginia Production Alliance.

The industry’s economic impact in Virginia totaled $383 million in 2013, provided 3,396 jobs and $58 million in tax revenue.
