Lawmakers Give Film Industry Bill a Thumbs Down

By: Jessica Roose

Only 27 representatives supported the bill which would have provided $170,000 in funding to help with promotion during the next two years.

“North Dakota’s multimedia small businesses create jobs and work hard and unlike other economies in North Dakota they do not have existing infrastructure to work with. They have to create everything themselves. This is an essential piece in helping get North Dakota’s production companies off the ground,” said Rep. Marie Strinden, D-Grand Forks.

The majority disagreed and also gave a thumbs-down to another bill that would have provided a tax credit for film production.
