Bill with incentives for film companies passes Senate

By KRQE Staff

SANTA FE (KRQE) – A bill that encourages film companies to hire New Mexicans passed the state Senate Saturday.

Lawmakers say the measure is an incentive to create more film and production jobs in the state.

This bill encourages companies to hire locals and use local facilities like sound stages and film designated sets.

It also allows pilots to get a larger tax credit.

Last year there were 12 major motion pictures, six major television productions and 43 production projects in New Mexico.
